I´ve been told that you can be in a crowd and still be lonely. Thats been my experience. It can be a very sad feeling. But its also been my experience that there is an up side to almost everything. Its all a matter of how you look at the thing involved. Another way of saying the same thing is to say its all a matter of heart. My little cabin for example. I really like it, simple as it is. One small room, comfortable, easy to manage. Cat bouncing off the walls. Home. A place of peace, a place of … Solitude. Its about 20 feet from a major highway. Its smack in the middle of a tourist town. Its stuck between several businesses, cars are parking five feet from my door at all hours, motorcycles are reving up just a few feet from my bathroom window and … You know what? I´m in a crowd. But I experience solitude, in a good way. I close the curtains, shut the bathroom window, turn on my NetBook and set the internet radio on RadioMaria, and … Peace. Solitude. I´ve discovered its a matter of attitude, a matter of heart. Its not being alone, its being at peace. Its knowing that God´s in His Heaven and alls right with the world. Because even when I´m alone I´m never alone. He´s here. You don´t have to be a spiritual Superman to live in your own Fortress of Solitude. You only have to set your heart on it. Where your heart is there will your treasure be also.
