A Rosary Meditation … The Fifth Glorious Mystery, the Coronation. “Who is this that comes forth like the dawn, as beautiful as the moon, as resplendent as the sun?” Canticles of Canticles 6:10. The moon is glorious because it reflects the light of the sun. Mary is beautiful because she perfectly reflects the light of the Son. ” … comes forth like the dawn … ” Mary made up for all that was lacking in Eve. Here is the dawn of a new age. An age of disobedience came at the time of Adam and Eve. In Mary’s day that age ended and an age of beauty and obedience came to light. The dawning of something fresh and wonderful. God and humanity coming together in marvelous fashion. And the Coronation is a proof of that. A mere human is now Queen of Heaven and Earth just as God is its King. Elevated by Him out of love for us she sits in a splendor reflecting His so that all may see. God may be to bright for our eyes, but Mary being human is easier on our eyes and by reflecting that Light that is the Life of men she is a beacon leading straight to a safe harbor, Jesus. Any good queen would direct you to the king. Our Queen does this perfectly.

Today … St. Nemesius was burned alive, between two criminals like Jesus was, in Alexandria, Egypt. He followed the Son. Like Mary he reflected the Light of the Son. That’s what the funeral pyres of martyrs do when they’re lit by the fire of faith and love.

Mark your calendar … August 22, New Calendar, is the Feast of the Queenship of Mary.
