A Rosary Meditation … The Second Glorious Mystery, the Ascension. “All of you shall have Her as your Mother, as your Superior and Head, and so shall also your successors. She shall answer your doubts, solve your difficulties; in Her, those who seek Me shall always find me …” (“The Mystical City of God” by Mary of Agreda) With these words Christ takes one more step towards Heaven. He was leaving. But just as He would send the Holy Spirit to comfort and guide, keep and protect His Church, just so did He give yet another most precious gift. He leaves us His Mother, now to be our Mother in a very special way. People think of family as being a bond of blood, and so it is. But the family of God, the Church Militant, the Church Suffering, and the Church Triumphant comprise a family with a blood bond like no other. If you are Catholic you are a closer relative to me than any natural member of my earthly family and that’s because of our Precious Blood bond. We are a family like no other. And what family is complete without a mother? A mother to tend to our needs, to guide us in right paths, to console us in sorrow, to love us. To be with us while our Elder Brother, Mother’s First Born, is away. He promised that Mother Mary, our Mother, would solve our difficulties. That covers life til His return. God the Father placed God the Son in good hands when He chose Mary to be the Mother of God. Jesus here does the same for us. Just as God is forgiving so is He also for ever giving. He did not stop at Calvary. He is always giving … more. He left but we can always find Him, always go to Him. To Jesus through Mary.

Today … There are many days dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Very beautiful celebrations, celebrating yet one more gift from God, His gift to us of our Mother. We are just beginning a year of Faith. New evangelization and God knows the world needs it. WE need it. More faith, deeper faith, surer faith. One aspect of faith, one thing desperately needed in this age of murder (abortion) on demand, this age of depravity in which things loathsome are called wholesome, is motherhood and respect for mothers. This is an aspect of faith because Mary is an aspect, or a part of, our faith. It is an aspect of faith because family is of divine origin and a part of God’s plan for humanity. No family is complete without a mother. So I offer you something different today. Rather than celebrate a saint, and all of them are worth celebrating, why not celebrate Mary? Why not make today a special Mothers Day? You might ask, “Why today?” And the answer, my answer, is … Why not today? Shouldn’t we love Mary every day? Why not take a day, ANY day, and decide to make it special, special between you and your Mother, just because? A hint here: One way to celebrate? Google “Mary, undoer of knots”, remember He promised She would solve your problems, make it personal and go from there.

My Favorite Quote … “Do whatever He tells you.” ~ The Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Heaven and earth, Queen of Angels and Saints, your Mother and mine … Family ~
