The One Size Fits All Vocation

A one size fits all vocation? Could there be such a thing?

“11. God created man in His own image and likeness: calling him to existence through love. He called him at the same time for love. God is love and in Himself He lives a mystery of personal loving communion. Creating the human race in His own image and continually keeping it in being, God inscribed in the humanity of man and woman the vocation, and thus the capacity and responsibility of love and communion. Love is therefore the fundamental and innate vocation of every human being.” From the Servant of God, blessed Pope John Paul II, in Familiaris Consortio.

And how do we accomplish our vocation? How do we live it, bring it to fruition?

” ‘You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart, with your whole soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. The second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments the whole law is based, and the prophets as well.” From our Lord God Jesus Christ, Matthew 22:37-40.

“If you love me, keep my commandments.” The Lord Jesus, John 14:15, Douay-Rheims Bible.
